Local organisations will have a chance to learn more about funding opportunities at a forthcoming presentation hosted by Rehman.
The event on Friday 15th July, 12.45pm at the Millennium Centre in Rainham, will give local community groups the chance to hear about the Heritage Lottery Fund grants available.
This includes grants of £10,000-£100,000 under the Our Heritage Programme and the Young Roots programme that awards up to £50,000, aimed at those working with young people.
To mark the Centenary of the First World War, HLF is also making at least £1 million a year available until 2019 for small, community grants to explore, conserve and share First World War heritage.
It provides grants of £3,000 to £10,000 for projects which deepen an understanding of the impact of the conflict.
Groups interested in attending are encouraged to register with Rehman Chishti MP by email.
HLF uses money raised through the National Lottery to make a lasting difference for heritage, people and communities across the UK. In Gillingham and Rainham, the recipients of grants has included the Medway Queen Preservation Society, which received £100,000, and the Health Action Charity Organisation which was awarded £19,400 for two community projects.
