A collaboration scheme called for by Rehman has been agreed today for Medway NHS Foundation Trust.
The health regulator, Monitor, has announced that Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital will have an enhanced buddy arrangement with Medway Hospital, offering their advice and expertise to support Medway.
Previously Medway Hospital had worked closely with University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust in a partnership project.
Guy’s and St Thomas’ is a leading foundation trust and Medway will be assisted by a specialist team from the trust.
Rehman said:
"I am glad to see that Medway Hospital continues to receive the maximum support from the Government to improve its services.
"I was keen to see greater collaboration from other Trusts who can offer their experience and expertise to help turn Medway Hospital around and recently raised this directly with the Health Secretary. Medway will certainly benefit from working so closely with Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital."
