During Prime Minister’s Question Time on Wednesday (18 June 2014), Rehman asked the PM about youth unemployment and business creation in Gillingham and Rainham, which shows that the Government’s long term economic plan is working.
Rehman also asked the PM about the University Technical College planned for Medway which will ensure that future generations are equipped with the right skills to succeed.
In response, the PM said:
"It is welcome that youth unemployment which has been too high for too long in our country is down by 25% this year in his constituency and long term youth unemployment is down 41%.
"He makes the point as well about these University Technical Colleges. I want to see one of these in every major town in our country so that we give young people the opportunity of good technical education, if that is what they choose, and those schools are well funded, well-resourced and also partnered, as is in his case, partnered with good organisations that can bring their expertise to bear."
