Rehman welcomes the Conservative Party’s counter-proposal, which it presented to the Boundary Commission this morning, as the best way of preserving community ties in Gillingham and Rainham.
Under the counter-proposal only one ward in Medway will change constituency, unlike the Boundary Commission’s initial proposal which changes four.
Rehman commented: “The counter-proposal maintains long established community ties and respects the boundaries of the five Medway towns: Gillingham, Rainham, Rochester, Strood and Chatham, with minimal changes and the required electorate.”
