Rehman has wished students at Rainham School for Girls good luck in the forthcoming Futsal World Cup and raised their success in the House of Commons.
On Thursday (6 February 2014) he told the Leader of the House in Parliament how delighted the school is having been asked to represent England in the competition.
The 5 aside team will travel to Sardinia in April where they will face teams from France, Belgium, Italy and Brazil. Futsal is a fast paced football game, officially recognised by FIFA and UEFA. Many of the top footballers have previously played the game, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Fabregas.
The Rainham School team qualified for the World Cup by taking part in regional and national championships.
Rehman said: "This is fantastic news that the local team will be representing England in the Futsal World Cup in Sardinia later this year. I wish the students at Rainham School for Girls luck in the competition and hopefully they’ll return the winners."
