Rehman has today (20 June 2013) spoken in favour of St Barnabas’ Church in Parliament.
The Gillingham Church is at risk of closure and has been a place of worship for more than 120 years.
Recently Rehman attended the Church’s open day to raise awareness of their campaign to ensure the Church remains part of the community.
On Thursday Rehman asked the Leader of the House in Parliament the following question:
"With around 20 to 30 Anglican Churches closed for regular worship every year, can we have an urgent debate on how we can work with local dioceses to keep churches open, such as St Barnabas’ Church in my own constituency which is threatened with closure after being at the heart of the community for more than 120 years?"
Further information of the campaign can be found of the Church’s website.
