Local Indian restaurant Al Karim has been highly commended by the judges of the Tiffin Cup 2013.
Each year the Tiffin Cup is awarded by a cross party group of MPs, with MPs across the country asked to nominate a restaurant in their own constituency.
It is organised by the Tiffin Club and one restaurant from each region is shortlisted and invited to a Grand Final in Parliament, when a national winner will be found.
This high profile event celebrates the diversity of South Asian food in the country and raises money for charity. This year they will be raising money for World Vision.
Although they did not make the Grand Final cook-off in the House of Commons, Al Karim will receive a certificate and embroidered 2013 Tiffin Cup chef jacket to mark their achievement.
Rehman said of the success:
“I welcome the news that Al Karim have been highly commended in this years Tiffin Cup. This recognises the hard work and effort of all the staff. They have been an excellent representative of Gillingham and Rainham.”
