On Wednesday (3rd December 2014) Rehman welcomed the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement which announced new measures including assistance for small businesses, motorists, families buying a house and additional investment in the NHS.
In Parliament, Rehman spoke about the impact that the Government’s reforms have had in Gillingham and Rainham, with youth unemployment going down and overall unemployment reducing, along with strong business and jobs growth.
Rehman Chishti said that small businesses were “at the heart” of Gillingham and Rainham, and that the Autumn Statement will help to create jobs and prosperity in the region.
The Chancellor, George Osborne MP told the House of Commons:
"I fondly remember my visit to Gillingham and the Gillingham town strip I was given when I was there. My hon. Friend is a great champion of Gillingham’s businesses and transport links in the town. Many of the small business rate decisions we have taken today are in no small part due to the campaigning my hon. Friend has done on behalf of Gillingham’s businesses."
