On Thursday (4 December 2014) the Leader of the House of Commons, Mr William Hague, congratulated local constituent Tommy Willan, who was recently named Regional Trainee of the Year by JTL Training.
He was responding to a question from Rehman, who asked Mr Hague about the success of Government funded apprenticeship schemes for young people across the country.
Rehman asked the Leader of the House:
"Recently my constituent Tommy Willan was named regional trainee of the year for 2014 for his hard work during his electrical apprenticeship, organised by JTL, which has also arranged 31,000 extra apprenticeships around the country. Will the Leader of the House allow a debate on the excellent work the Government are doing on apprenticeships around the country, equipping our young people with the skills to succeed in life?"
Mr William Hague responded:
"I join in congratulating my hon. Friend’s constituent on his award, which I am sure was very well deserved. A debate on this subject would be extremely welcome and would help to highlight the positive effects the 1.9 million apprenticeships starts in the past four and a half years have had on our economy."
