Rehman was named as the Campaigning MP of the Year at the Asian Voice Political and Public Life Awards on Thursday (10 March 2016).
The Awards, now in its 10th year, are held to honour those who have made an impact in the last 12 months. It recognises those who have made a difference in their local communities as well as national and international politicians.
The veteran news reader Sir Trevor McDonald presented Rehman with the Award for his campaign to refer to the so called Islamic State as Daesh.
Last year, Rehman led a campaign which successfully convinced the Government of officially adopt the term Daesh when referring to this terrorist group. It was supported by 170 MPs from across the political spectrum.
