Rehman is the top backbencher for contributions in Parliament, according to the BBC.

They have crunched the numbers and named Rehman as first for the number of times backbench Members of Parliament have contributed during debates in the House of Commons. Rehman has spoken 890 times, with his nearest rival on 625.

When Ministers and the Speaker is included in the figures, Rehman is fifth amongst all MPs, beating frontbench speakers including Theresa May (763) and Anna Soubry (770).

The figures were part of the BBC’s “factoids of the 2015-16 Parliamentary year”, to mark the prorogation of Parliament on Thursday (12 May 2016).

Parliament returns on Wednesday (18 May 2016) with the State Opening and the Queen’s Speech.

Rehman said:
"As an active Member of Parliament, I contribute to as many debates as possible because I believe that it is important for an MP to represent their local constituents by speaking up for local concerns."
