Plans to increase the number of PCSOs and Constables in Kent and Medway has won the praise of the Policing Minister.
Damian Green MP, the Minister for Policing, said he was “delighted that we will have more PCSOs and police officers on the streets of Kent in the coming years” in response to a question from local MP Rehman Chishti.
Kent’s Police and Crime Commissioner Ann Barnes is planning to increase the number of PCSOs by 60 and Constables by 20.
Local Member of Parliament for Gillingham and Rainham, Rehman Chishti MP, spoke in a debate on PCSO’s in Parliament of Tuesday 19th March 2013. He asked the Minister for Policing Damian Green:
“Will he pay tribute to the Kent Police and Crime Commissioner, Ann Barnes, who is increasing PCSOs by 60 as well as having an extra 20 police constables on the streets of Kent?”
The Minister replied: “As a fellow Kent MP, I am delighted that we will have more PCSOs and police officers on the streets of Kent in the coming years. I am happy to join my hon. Friend in his remarks.”
